All India radio is also doing its bit to encourage cinema artistes. Day before yesterday, it honored talented stars for 2005-2006 at a function held in Trichy.
Instead of appointing a panel to select the best actors, All India Radio straight away left the choice to viewers. The listeners of Kodaikanal FM conveyed their choice through telephone and Internet.
P Vasu was selected as the best director for 'Chandramukhi.' Vishal was chosen as best actor for 'Sandakozhi' and Pooja as best actress for 'Thambi.' Special award for best actress went to Sneha for 'ABCD' and 'Autograph'. Special award for best directors went to Saravana Subbiah for 'ABCD' and Raja for 'M Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi.'
Best music composers were Sabesh-Murali for 'Thavamaai Thavamirundhu.' Special award for music composing went to D Iman and Srikanth Deva. Haricharan won best singer award for 'Kaadhal.'
Ganja Karuppu was chosen as best comedian for 2005-06 for his role in 'Ram.' Special award for best comedian went to Vivek.
Except for Vishal, all others attended the function and collected their awards in person.
