    Police probe murder of woman, 22

    Police are investigating the murder of 22-year-old woman who was found dead in an inlet of water.Officers were called to Porthmadog in Gwynedd at 1400 BST on Saturday after reports a body had been found in an stretch of water leading to a river.

    The woman has been named as Ffion Wyn Roberts from Porthmadog.

    She was last seen in the Union pub in Tremadog at around 0330 BST on Saturday and is believed to have travelled home along Church Street to Porthmadog.

    North Wales Police said her family have been informed and a trained family liaison officer is supporting them.

    North Wales Fire Service were also called to the scene, known locally as "Y Cyt", close to Tesco and the Coliseum Cinema, on Saturday afternoon.

    The stretch of water is a drainage canal that once linked the Tremadog and Porthmadog in the 1800s.

    The police helicopter was also reported to be active in the area.


    Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Tremadog or Porthmadog between the hours of 0330am and 0800 on Saturday, to call the incident room on 01745 538 474.This article is from the BBC News website. ?
