Which region produces learners 'worst at driving tests'?

People in London and south-east England take more attempts to pass driving tests than candidates in any other UK region, a survey has suggested. The AA/Populus survey of 20,109 AA members found people from the area took an average of 2.1 attempts to pass - compared with a UK average of two.

Busy and complex London roads appeared to contribute to learners finding driving more difficult, the AA said.

Drivers in the east of England had the best pass rate, taking 1.87 attempts.

AA Driving School director Simon Douglas said: "Many factors shape local pass rates. In some less-populated regions, learners find it relatively less challenging."

Driving Standards Agency figures suggested those who passed their driving test had, on average, about 45 hours of professional driving lessons and 22 hours of private practice. This article is from the BBC News website. ?
