    Couple killed after A40 breakdown

    An elderly couple who broke down on the A40 in west London were killed when their car was hit by a lorry.They were waiting for help on the eastbound carriageway of the A40, near the Polish War Memorial in Northolt, when it happened.

    Emergency services attended the scene at midnight on Thursday where the couple were pronounced dead. The husband was aged 80, his wife, 76.

    The lorry driver has been bailed by police to return in July.

    Post-mortem tests are expected to be carried out on Monday.
