
GMTV presenter Ben Shephard has announced he is leaving the ITV breakfast show after 10 years.The 35-year-old began presenting the entertainment section in 2000, but was later promoted to the sofa in 2005.
A spokesman for the star said he had told show bosses earlier this year that he would not renew his contract and was "excited" about future projects.
Earlier this week, it was announced that The One Show's Adrian Chiles was moving to GMTV.
A statement issued from Shephard's agent said: "Ben's two year contract with GMTV is up at the end of April.
"Earlier this year, his management made it clear that he would not be renewing it, but would be happy to stay on temporarily during this transitional period.
"Ben is excited about moving on after 10 incredible years and will be focusing on a number of new projects with ITV and other channels."
An ITV spokesman added that the channel are currently "in discussions with him about other projects".
Shephard is the third presenter in 12 months to announce he will no longer work on the ITV flagship show.
In December, Fiona Phillips left after 16 years broadcasting from the GMTV sofa and earlier this year, newsreader Penny Smith announced she was also planning to leave after 17 years.This article is from the BBC News website. ?
