    McLeish to reveal football vision

Former First Minister Henry McLeish is preparing to unveil his vision for transforming Scottish football. The Scottish Football Review is expected to concentrate on football at youth level, with the second instalment due later in the autumn.

BBC Scotland has been told the report will "take no prisoners".

McLeish is also understood to want the Scottish FA and the Scottish Premier League to work more closely together for the benefit of the game.

Having been approached by the SFA, McLeish agreed to chair the Scottish Football Review committee in February 2009.

Among other things, the review is understood to call for £500m of investment in football facilities and infrastructure, a football academy to nurture top youth talent and professional clubs being properly audited to show how they spend the public money they receive.

Scottish Government ministers are understood to be very interested in McLeish's proposals for sport in schools, which call on pupils to be given a minimum of three PE sessions a week.

It is also anticipated that funds from the football authorities will be forthcoming to help. This article is from the BBC News website. ? British Broadcasting Corporation, The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.
