</span>One man died and two people were injured when a car crashed into a bridge on the A12 in Essex on Sunday.
The fatal crash at Dedham led to the closure of both carriageways and all emergency services were called to the scene, a police spokesman said.
"The A12 was closed northbound at Gun Hill and southbound from Dedham. Two air ambulances landed nearby.
"One person died at the scene and two others have been airlifted to hospital," he said.
The southbound carriageway has reopened, but the northbound will remain closed for several hours while road collision investigators carry out an initial investigation.
Police have asked for any witnesses to contact them.
