Two children have been seriously injured in an accident on the M74 and a biker has been flown to hospital after a crash on the A82.
Huge tailbacks have been caused following both incidents.
The two youngsters were hurt when a people carrier hit a barrier on the northbound carriageway of the M74 near Junction 7 at the Larkhall interchange.
The A82 has been completely closed after a motorcyclist hit a barrier two miles north of Ardlui, near Arrochar.
He was airlifted to hospital in an ambulance helicopter.
In the M74 accident one of the children, suffering from head injuries, was airlifted to hospital in the Strathclyde Police helicopter.
The northbound carriageway has been closed and there are now long delays back to Junction 8 with police preventing motorists from joining the motorway at Canderside.
