    Haiti poll protest turns violent

5 December 2010 Last updated at 17:41 ET Protesters in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince have clashed with police at a demonstration demanding the annulment of last week's presidential elections.

Police fired tear gas and protesters threw stones during the demonstration outside the presidential palace.

It was the second such protest organised by opposition politicians in three days.

Results from the election are not due until Tuesday, but most observers say the poll was grossly mismanaged.

On Friday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the irregularities seemed "more serious than initially thought".

Estimates for the number of demonstrators who attended Sunday's protest vary between 700 and 1,500 people.
