Four suicide bombers have stormed an army recruitment centre in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz, killing at least four members of the Afghan security forces.
Three of the attackers were shot dead. but one is reported to be fighting government forces inside the centre.
In a separate attack in the capital Kabul, police said there had been a suicide bomb attack on a vehicle carrying Afghan soldiers.
At least one soldier is reported dead.
The attacker was shot by policeman and his explosives detonated, causing a fire, an interior ministry spokesman told the Agence France-Presse news agency.
It is the first major attack in Kabul for seven months.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Kunduz on Saturday.
