North Wales Police say they are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found in gardens in Bangor city centre.
Emergency services were called to the Bible Gardens next to the city's cathedral at 08.55 GMT on Wednesday.
The 48-year-old man later pronounced dead at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
Police have confirmed that the inquiry is examining if the death is weather related.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place on Thursday.
The area where the man was found is a well-known spot where homeless people in the city gather.
A police spokeswoman said: "We have to wait until the results of a post mortem examination, but obviously, given the circumstances, we are investigating to see if the weather was a factor."
