    Weather warning over icy roads

26 December 2010 Last updated at 07:12 ET The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for widespread icy roads in Northern Ireland.

It said outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow would develop on Sunday afternoon and evening.

The Met Office said the public were advised to take extra care as ice would form widely, leading to treacherous conditions.

It said fresh snow fall of two to five cms would add to the difficulties.

More than 30 homes were left without electricity on Christmas Day after heavy ice caused a power cable to collapse in County Antrim.

It fell onto the M2 which had to be closed in both directions between Templepatrick and Antrim.

The motorway later reopened and power was restored.
