A man has been detained after an incident at a house in West Lothian, which lasted almost five hours.
Lothian and Borders Police confirmed a major operation had been ongoing in the Glenmore Estate area of Whitburn.
The area was cordoned off from about 1330 GMT but police would not comment on the nature of the operation.
An eyewitness said there were more than 15 police vehicles surrounding the scene. The incident was brought to a close at 1830 GMT.
