Anne Keothavong made it through to the first round of the Australian Open after winning her third and final qualifying match in Melbourne.

The British number two, 27, beat Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu 6-3 6-4 to join compatriots Elena Baltacha and Andy Murray in the main draw.

Keothavong, ranked 118 in the world, will play Russia's Arina Rodionova in her second Melbourne Park appearance.

In 2009 she lost in three sets to Russia's Anna Chakvetadze.

Keothavong will not play until Tuesday but Baltacha is in action on Monday's opening day against qualifier Jamie Hampton of America, with the winner likely to meet seven-time major winner Justine Henin.
