I'm A Celebrity show wins TV gong

26 January 2011 Last updated at 15:22 ET ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has won the best entertainment show at this year's National TV Awards.

The jungle series, fronted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, beat Big Brother, Mock The Week and QI.

The first award of the night - being staged in London - also went to ITV. Benidorm was named as the best comedy, beating Harry Hill, Michael McIntyre and Outnumbered.

BBC One's Waterloo Road won best drama, beating Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who.

It was the first time in six years that the popular BBC series, which was revived in 2005, had not gone home with the best drama award.

Winners of the awards, screened live on ITV1, were voted for by viewers online.

The show opened with a performance from Stacey Soloman and Shaun Ryder, who met during the last series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Two of Simon Cowell's shows, The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, are in the running for the talent show prize. The BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and ITV1's Dancing on Ice are also included in this category.

As well as Ant and Dec, Davina McCall, Paul O'Grady and Dermot O'Leary - this year's host - are up for best presenter.

Coronation Street, which marked its 50th anniversary in December, is pitted against EastEnders, which celebrated its 25th birthday last year, in the best serial drama category.

Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are also nominated for this award.

BBC Breakfast will battle it out against ITV1's This Morning and Loose Women for the best topical show trophy.

The live awards show started at 1930 GMT at the O2 Arena.
