60mph winds continue to hit Wales

5 February 2011 Last updated at 05:12 ET High winds continues to batter Wales with gusts of up to 60mph.

A severe weather warning for heavy rain is in force across north Wales. And weather forecasters say there is a risk of localised flooding.

The M48 Severn Bridge Eastbound at J2 A466, Chepstow, is closed on Saturday to high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

On Friday, the high winds exacerbated a 25-mile queue of traffic on the M4 into Cardiff for the Wales-England rugby Six Nations opening match.

The delays stretched between junction 19 and junction 25a but the hold-ups were cleared by 2000 GMT - 15 minutes after the start of the game which ended in a Wales' defeat.

On Saturday, North Wales Fire and Rescue alerted the Highways Agency after receiving a number of calls about road signs being blown into the roads and some trees.

Meanwhile, some roads have now re-opened following problems overnight.

The A483, Four Crosses, Powys, re-opened after fallen power cables were removed between The Street and B4393.

And the B4368, Glanmule, Powys, has also been cleared after a fallen tree blocked the road between between A489, Glanmule, and Anchor.

The strong winds are expected to continue on Sunday.
