Four women, former winners on Indy 500 entry list

Four women and four former winners were among the drivers in the 40 entries filed on Wednesday for next month's Indianapolis 500.

Defending champion Helio Castroneves headlined the list as the Brazilian bids to join A.J. Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears as the only four-time winners of the race.

Other former winners back at the Brickyard for the May 30 race will include New Zealand's Scott Dixon and Britons Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon.

There could also be four women on the starting grid with Venezuela's Milka Duno, young Swiss Simona De Silvestro and Americans Sarah Fisher and Danica Patrick, the only woman to win an Indy Car race, all vying for spots in the 33-car field.

Six rookies will test themselves for the first time on the famed speedway, including former Formula One driver Takuma Sato and 19-year-old Colombian Sebastian Saavedra.

Qualifying will be held over two days, starting with Pole Day on May 22.
