    Thu, Apr 22 05:42 AM

Two local boys were on the top of the leaderboard after the opening day of the second leg of the PGTI Feeder Tour in Gurgaon, with Arshpreet Thind of the Classic Golf Resort and Karanjit Singh Sandhu of the DLF Golf & Country Club shooting identical two-under 70s. Patna's Mohammad Nawab and B S Ghuman of Patiala are two shots back, tied third after rounds of even par 72. While Thind made five birdies against three bogeys in his round with a 15-foot birdie putt on the 10th hole, Sandhu's card featured four birdies and two bogeys.

Rajiv Kumar Jatiwal, Dayal Singh, Maniram Sharma and Deepinder Singh Kullar are in tied fifth place at one-over 73 each.

Semwal in lead In the absence of the tour's most successful player, new names took hold of the leaderboard in the third leg of the national amateur tour. Army Golf Course's Siddharth Semwal leads the Haryana Open Amateur Golf Championship at the halfway mark, opening up a four-shot gap on Wednesday after a on-under 71 round.

Semwal's total of four-under 140 at the Classic Golf Resort puts him four ahead of a two-way tie at second place between Bangalore's Khalin Joshi and home boy Ainesh Ahluwalia. Senior player Gagan Verma is tied fourth, at three-over 147 along with Abhijit Chadha. Delhi Golf Club player Pawan Verma is a further shot back.
