Guwahati, Apr 24 (PTI) Olympians Dola Banerjee and Jayanta Talukdar will be main attraction of the 30th Sahara Senior Nationals Archery Championship (Recurve and Compound) commenced at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium here today. A total of 359 archers, including Belsry Narzary, Rajiv Basumatary, Nayanmaoni Nath and Pratima Devi are participating in the three-day tournament.
Assam Sports Minister Bharat Chandra Narah, inaugurating the event, hoped that archers from the state would win medals in the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi from October 3-14. Narah said that the state government has given all help to promote sports in the state so that players can compete successfully at the international level.
Meanwhile, the state government presented a cheque of Rs 1.50 lakh to Assam lad Sanjay Bor who had won individual bronze at the World Youth Archery Championship in Ogden, USA. PTI DG RG DB.
