    Dane Andreasen ruled out of World Cup

    Enlarge Photo Leon Andreasen poses during an official photo call for the upcoming soccer season in Bremen... Denmark midfielder Leon Andreasen ruled himself out of the World Cup on Thursday, telling coach Morten Olsen he was undergoing surgery next week on a leg injury.

    Andreasen, 27, has played 15 times for Denmark and Olsen said it would be difficult to find a replacement for the consistent Hanover 96 player who has struggled with groin and thigh injuries, Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet reported.

    "It was not unexpected but we had hoped that he would be able to make it," Ekstra Bladet quoted Olsen as saying.
