Sharma fined for dissent in India defeat

    Mon, May 10 10:04 PM

India batsman Rohit Sharma has been fined 15 percent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for showing dissent at an umpire during Sunday's Twenty20 World Cup defeat by West Indies.

Sharma stayed out in the middle for some time after being given out caught behind and gesticulated that the ball had hit his arm.

The Indian also urged the umpires to use video evidence -- a move that is not allowed for in the competition regulations.

The ICC said in statement the player had pleaded guilty so there would not be a full hearing.
