After cleaning up formidable Patiala for 176, Jalandhar team replied strongly scoring 407 for the loss of six wickets in the first innings during the final of the Punjab U-19 Inter-District cricket tournament being played at Burlton Park in Jalandhar.
Resuming at the overnight score of 119 for 2, Jalandhar continued to dominate Patiala bowlers throughout the day. Patiala fielding let down their bowlers, as they drop as many as four catches.After losing their overnight batsman Akash Rathore for 13 at 132, Jalandhar team got a bigger jolt as India U-19 star Mandeep Singh was sent packing for a duck. It was Patiala's Amrinder Singh who gobbled up both the wickets. There after, it was the in-form Mandeep Singh junior who took the charge and went on to score 84 off 151 balls. His knock bolstered Jalandhar total. He was fifth man to return to the pavilion.
After his loss, the middle-oder duo of Love Kumar and Bhupinder Singh got Jalandhar back on the track. Love clobbered the Patiala bowlers to hit stylish ton. Love and Bhupinder got togther to hammer an unbeaten stand of 192 for seventh wicket which in all probability sealed the fate of Patiala. Before that Love was dropped in the slips by Gauravpreet.At the draw of stumps, Jalandhar were leading by 231 runs. Love Kunar Singh (142 no) and Bhupinder Singh (73 no) were at the crease. For Patiala Amarinder Singh 3 for 141 Bhavish Goel 2 for 117 were the most successful bowlers. It will be an uphill task for Patiala to stage a comeback in the match.
