A crucial sixth-wicket partnership of 73 runs between Dipnashu and Abhijot guided hosts Stepping Stones Cricket Academy to a thumping five-wicket win over Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy and win the First Stepping Stones trophy Cricket Tournament which concluded on Saturday.
Desh Prem Azad Cricket academy won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, they posted a total of 151 runs in 33.5 overs. Akash was the top scorer for the team as he played a fine knock of 90 runs. Akash looked in control against the opposition bowlers and guided his team to a respectable total. Apart from Bhupinder who scored 17 runs, none of the Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy batsmen could go past double figures. For Stepping Stones Cricket Academy, Rishabh claimed two wickets for 37 runs while Abhijot claimed two wickets for 31 runs. Aditya Wadhwa claimed one wicket for 21 runs.
Chasing a target of 152 runs, Stepping Stones Academy made a confident start as openers Hardik Chaudhary and Nikhil were associated in a 61-run stand for the opening wicket. Hardik played a fine knock of 46 runs while Nikhil contributed 18 runs. Wickets fell at regular intervals for the hosts before a 73-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Dipanshu and Abhijot guided the hosts to win the title with 1.3 overs to spare. Abhijot remained unbeaten on 37 runs while Dipanshu played an unbeaten knock of 35 runs. For the losing side, Arjun Aggarwal claimed two wickets for 21 runs.
