Kolkata, July 10 (PTI) An eight-member expedition team of the Himalayan Club (Kolkata) along with seven sherpas will leave tomorrow for the 7561 m hight Mamostong Kangri, the highest peak in the Rimo Muztagh in the eastern Karokoram. The first Indian woman to scale the Mount Everest, Bachendri Pal sent off the team led by Pradeep Chandra Sahoo.

Located about 30 km east-southeast of the snout of the Siachen Glacier, the Mamostong Kangri is the 48th highest solitary peak in the world. Wishing the team success in their expedition, Bachendri said, "Mountaineering is all about managament of people, time and crisis with the limited resources.

" The team, which will reach Leh on July 15, have planned to establish the base camp three days later at the snout of Mamostong Glacier. "The team needs to establish four more such camps before the final summit attempt planned to be held between August 7 and 9.

We hope to return Kolkata by August 21," team leader Sahoo said about their sponsored trip with a budget of Rs 10 lakh.
