Scottish varsity denies snubbing Tiger Woods

    Mon, Jul 12 05:30 PM

Edinburgh, July 12 (ANI): Scotland's University of St Andrews has denied snubbing golf superstar Tiger Woods for an honorary degree.

Reports alleged that Scotland's oldest university, following the sensational revelations about the golf star's private life, had overlooked Woods.

The Scotsman said that St Andrews will honor three golfing greats on the eve of the 139th Open Championship at St Andrews.

Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Padraig Harrington will be awarded Honorary Degrees by the university in a public ceremony at in the town's Younger Hall tomorrow. For the first time the event will be shown live on the Internet.

But St Andrews stressed that Woods was never nominated for a degree - and therefore had not been snubbed.

It said it had "the greatest respect for Mr Woods' considerable achievements" - and wished him well for the Open. (ANI)
