Hilfenhaus strikes twice in Pakistan first innings

    Wed, Jul 14 05:27 PM

Australia pace bowler Ben Hilfenhaus struck twice in combination with debutant wicketkeeper Tim Paine to reduce Pakistan to 49 for two at lunch on the second day of the first test at Lord's on Wednesday.

Hilfenhaus, who had switched to the Nursery End after two overs with the new ball, accounted for Imran Farhat (4) and Azher Ali (16) who were both caught behind as Pakistan began their reply to Australia's 253 all out.

Michael Hussey manipulated the strike skilfully to record his 21st test half-century after Australia resumed on 229 for nine on another overcast morning.

Hussey (56 not out) and Doug Bollinger (4) added 31 for the last wicket before Bollinger, who had lingered for nearly an hour at the crease, was comprehensively bowled by teenage fast bowler Mohammad Aamer.

Aamer finished with four for 72 from 19.5 lively overs and a quiet word in his ear from match referee Chris Broad about his future conduct after he brushed against Ricky Ponting on Tuesday while celebrating his dismissal of the Australia captain.
