New Delhi, Jul 17 (PTI) As part of efforts to ensure foolproof security during Commonwealth Games, Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai today reviewed the arrangements being put in place at the Games venues. Pillai visited the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, the venue of both opening and closing ceremonies, for on the spot assessment of security measures.
Sources said the Home Secretary also interacted with officials of the organising committee and Delhi Police who gave him a detailed presentation. The mega sporting event is scheduled to be held between October 3 and 14.
At least 10,000 players and support staff from 71 nations are expected to participate in the Games. Besides, the organising committee is also expecting 5 lakh visitors to witness the fortnight-long sporting extravaganza.
