Pregnant Kastor will miss New York City marathon

The child, which will be Kastor's first, is due in March, her management company and the New York Road Runners said in a joint announcement.

"To hear this news was really exciting," said the 37-year-old Kastor, the 2004 Olympic bronze medallist.

"As soon as we heard the news, I stopped hard workouts. I don't look pregnant yet but I hear it seems to happen overnight."

Kastor also won the 2006 London marathon.
