    Pak bundled out for 248

South Africa's Mornel Morkel and Johan Botha ran through Pakistan's brittle line-up to bowl them out for 248 on the third day of the first Test at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Proteas were 139-2 in their second innings after taking a first-innings lead of 132. Morkel polished off the tail to end with five wickets after Botha's three started the slide. At stumps, Hashim Amla on 44 and Jacques Kallis on 32 were at the crease.

    Brief scores: South Africa 380 & 139/2 (G smith 32, H Amla 44 batting, J Kallis 32 batting) vs Pakistan 248 (M Hafeez 60, T Umar 42, A Ali 56; Morkel 5/54, J Botha 3/61)

    Messi double in Barca victory

A moment of genius from Lionel Messi lit up the Nou Camp as Barcelona eased to a 3-1 win over Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday that put them two points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid at the top of the standings. Uruguay striker Diego Forlan snapped a two-month goal drought with a double in Atletico Madrid's 3-0 victory at home to Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao held on for a 1-0 success against Almeria despite going down to nine men with 20 minutes left.

    Totti strike in Roma draw

Francesco Totti's first-half injury time penalty gave AS Roma a share of the Serie A points with Juventus in a 1-1 draw. Totti held his nerve for his first league goal of the season after Vincenzo Iaquinta opened the scoring 10 minutes. Juventus enjoyed the better of the chances and only an acrobatic save from Roma goalkeeper Julio Sergio denied the home side the win after Fabio Quagliarella fired in a volley with four minutes remaining. Also, Fiorentina kept up its improved form with a 1-0 win at home to Cesena.
