Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso says the team's fifth and sixth-place qualifying positions for the Chinese Grand Prix were the most it could hope for, and more improvement is needed.
Alonso will start from fifth for the third straight race this season, and he said "fifth and sixth at the moment is the maximum we can do with what we have in hand."
Alonso was 1.4 seconds off the time of pole sitter Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull in Saturday's qualifying.
Alondo's Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa said "the podium is exactly what I want to try (for) but it is not very easy to achieve looking at the gap with the cars in front."
