NBA - Thunder upset Mavs to tie series at 1-1

DALLAS (Reuters) - The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-100 to level the best-of-seven Western Conference Finals at 1-1 on Thursday.

Kevin Durant, the NBA scoring leader the last two years, scored 24 points to lead the Thunder, which got a tremendous boost from reserve guard James Harden's 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

The Thunder led 77-76 after three quarters and pulled away with inspired play by their bench players, who replaced the rest of the starters besides Durant for most of the final quarter.

Dirk Nowitzki, the 7-foot (2.13 m) jump-shooter who scored 48 points in a brilliant Game One display, was quieted by heavy double-team defensive pressure until a late surge of 16 fourth-quarter points gave him 29 for the game.

The series shifts to Oklahoma City, where Game Three will be played on Saturday.
