Monaco, May 29(ANI): Reigning Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel extended his lead at the top of the drivers' championship with victory in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.
McLaren's Jenson Button, who briefly led the race, and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso had closed in on Vettel, but a late safety car helped the 23-year-old.
Alonso finished second with Button third and Red Bull's Mark Webber fourth.
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton was sixth after a lively race despite being penalized for a clash with Felipe Massa's Ferrari, The BBC reports.
Vettel has now won five of the six races this season, with only Hamilton beating him in China.
The Red Bull driver is leading the championship with 143 points to Hamilton's 85 and Webber's 79. (ANI)
