LONDON (Reuters) - Home hope Andy Murray battled through to the last 16 at Wimbledon with a 6-4 4-6 6-1 7-6 win over Croatian Ivan Ljubicic under the Centre Court roof on Friday.
The fourth seed, bidding to become the first British men's singles champion at Wimbledon for 75 years, looked edgy against former world number three Ljubicic but he kept his emotions under control to take the first set.
Ljubicic cranked up his powerful serve to level at 1-1 but Murray suddenly found his A-game to surge through the third set.
Murray broke in the fifth game of the fourth set but he failed to serve out for the match at 5-4 and Ljubicic forced a tiebreak.
Murray won the tiebreak 7-4 to reach the fourth round.
