Latest from Sports - Fukushima wins gold at Asian championships

KOBE, Japan (AP) — Japan's Chisato Fukushima has won the women's 200 meters at the Asian athletics championships on Sunday.

Fukushima clocked a time of 23.49 in the final to finish comfortably ahead of Lebanon's Gretta Taslakian, who had a time of 24.01. Japan's Saori Imai was third in 24.06.

The Japanese sprinter won both the 100 and 200 at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in November but only competed in the 200 in this meet.

Fukushima is scheduled to compete in both the 100 and 200 at the Aug.27-Sept.4 world championships in Daegu, South Korea.

    Nigerian-born Femi Ogunode of Qatar won the men's 200 with a championship-record time 20.41.
