Injury came at right time: Sania

Picking up an injury is a nightmare for any player. But Sania Mirza, who had torn her meniscus during the US Open, is happy with the timing of her injury as it came towards the fag end of last season.

"The season is almost over and the off-season is a nice time to get injured since you do not have any tournaments for the next few months. I hope to recover as soon as possible and I am dying to be return to action," Sania said after the conclusion of the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship at the national capital on Saturday.

The Hyderabad girl explained that she is enjoying a smooth recovery and will be back to form the next two months. "Its been eight days since I had the operation and I am walking comfortably at the moment. I will be out for 4-6 weeks and will be back for practice within a short while," Sania said.

Sania, who has suffered frequent injuries in her career, admitted she did get frustrated at times having to sit on the sidelines. "It does get a bit frustrating at times. You have to try out different treatments at times. This time, I will be joined by a trainer from South Africa, and he will be with me for the duration of my rehabilitation," she said.

Sania was happy about her husband Shoaib Malik making a comeback to the national side after a long hiatus. "It is a nice feeling. As a wife I am definitely happy with Shoaib's comeback to the team. All of us have been supporting him and it is good to see him return to the national team," she said.

Sania is also excited to be at the Buddh International circuit on October 30 when India will host its first ever Formula One Grand Prix in Greater Noida. "Definitely looking forward to the inaugural F1. I am fortunate to have been invited for the event and I am looking to be there for the event. I have not been to any such event before, it will be a great experience," Sania said.
