A 46-year-old Conservative MP has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, the BBC understands.
It is believed to be Leicestershire North West MP Andrew Bridgen.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault against a 29-year-old woman at an address in SW1 in the early hours of Thursday, 9 June."
The MP has been released on police bail, sources said.
