A Briton has reportedly been shot dead and another taken hostage from a Kenyan resort island.
Details are sketchy, and Kenyan police have revealed few details, but it is believed the couple were staying at the exclusive island resort of Lamu.
One police source said the Islamist group Al Shabab could be involved.
The resort is near the Somali border and Somali pirates could be involved, says a BBC reporter, although tourist resorts have not been targeted before.
