A prisoner has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of child murderer Colin Hatch and the attempted murder of Soham killer Ian Huntley.
Damien Fowkes, 35, admitted slashing Huntley's throat in HMP Frankland in March 2010 at Hull Crown Court.
He also strangled child killer Colin Hatch at Full Sutton Prison near York in February 2011.
The court heard how Fowkes showed "strong psychopathic traits".
Hatch, 38, of north London, was killed while serving a life sentence for killing a seven-year-old boy while on parole for a previous child sex attack.
Fowkes, from Northampton, who is serving a life sentence for armed robbery, was initially charged with Hatch's murder but his plea of guilty to manslaughter was accepted on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Graham Reeds, prosecuting, told the court his manslaughter plea was acceptable.
Huntley, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of 10-year-old schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, had his throat slashed with a makeshift knife while at the County Durham prison.
