RIYADH: Prince Khaled bin Sultan, assistant minister of defense and aviation, has been named chairman of the board of trustees of Prince Sultan Charitable Foundation and Prince Fahd bin Sultan, his deputy. The selection was made during a meeting of the foundation's board of trustees.
Addressing the meeting, Prince Khaled said the demise of Prince Sultan, who established, financed and developed the foundation, was a big loss for the Kingdom and the Islamic world. He underscored the late prince's tremendous contributions to the Kingdom's development and his humanitarian activities.
"The foundation will follow in the footsteps of Prince Sultan in supporting the poor and orphans," Prince Khaled told reporters after the meeting. "There was a consensus during the meeting to continue the charitable programs initiated by Prince Sultan," he said.
Prince Khaled said he would present a plan to develop the foundation within three months. "We'll support this organization with all our strength," he added.
