Clinton nixes talk of Hillary replacing Biden as veep
Former President Bill Clinton has dismissed the incessant blogosphere talk that President Barack Obama will replace Vice President Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton as his running mate for the 2012 election that by all accounts promises to be an uphill battle for him.
Saying that Biden has done a good job and that he himself looks forward to supporting the re-election of Obama-Biden team, Clinton says his wife Hillary intends to quit as Secretary of State and take up the work of the Clinton Foundation after Obama’s first term.
“And the White House has said the president intends to run with Vice President Biden, and Joe Biden is a very close friend of Hillary and mine, and he’s done a good job. So I think we should just take everybody at their word,” Clinton said in an interview to USA Today, coinciding with the release of his new book, “Back to Work: Why we need smart government for a strong economy”. Clinton has asked everyone to ignore the speculation about Hillary and Biden swapping places, saying his wife will follow through with her plans to retire after Obama’s first term.
Hillary herself had rejected the speculation last month, telling NBC News: “I do not think it’s even in the realm of possibility.”
