    Networking Best Practices for vCloud

    Session Abstract:
VMware-based cloud technologies provide powerful capabilities for managing cloud computing environments and applications, and provides a framework for dynamic application deployment and hosting in multitenant environments. For mission critical and higher-order production applications in the cloud, it is critical that the application network be flexible, automated, and integrated with the cloud in order to achieve the same performance and availability as traditional, on-premise environments. This session will focus specifically on best practices for layer 4-7 cloud networking, within the context of the vCloud initiative and vSphere. Topics will include API integration, automation, network security, intelligent traffic management, service acceleration, and global traffic management between clouds and customers. We will also present innovative ways in which the network can be used to enable hybrid clouds, federated authentication, and live migration from client sites to their cloud provider. We will show some basic demonstrations, as well as detailed cloud network diagrams.
