An inquest will be held later into the death of the wife of Scotland footballer Colin Hendry.
Denise Hendry, 43, of Lytham, Lancashire, died at Salford Royal Hospital in July 2009 following a post-operative infection.
She is believed to have contracted an infection during a series of operations to try to repair damage done during a botched liposuction procedure in 2002.
The two-day hearing will be held at Bolton Coroner's Court.
Mrs Hendry suffered nine punctures to her bowel and colon during the original operation at Broughton Park hospital in 2002 and later developed blood poisoning.
Lawyers later secured a six-figure damages settlement while the surgeon voluntarily applied to be removed from the General Medical Council's register.
Mrs Hendry subsequently campaigned about the dangers of cosmetic surgery, urging people to check their surgeon's credentials before going under the knife.
Defender Hendry, 45, was capped 51 times for Scotland and was one of the stars of Blackburn Rovers' Premiership-winning team of 1994/95.
He also played for Manchester City, Rangers, Bolton Wanderers, Coventry City, Preston North End and Blackpool and managed Blackpool and Clyde.
