Professor Philipp Bonhoeffer no longer works at Great Ormond Street Hospital
Great Ormond Street Hospital has set up a helpline after it emerged a former doctor has been suspended while under investigation over misconduct claims.
Philipp Bonhoeffer, a top paediatric heart surgeon, faces a General Medical Council (GMC) disciplinary hearing.
GMC documents show the inquiry has involved the Metropolitan Police's Child Abuse Investigation Command.
Dr Bonhoeffer, who denies the claims, no longer works for the hospital and stopped seeing patients there in 2009.
The misconduct is alleged to have happened abroad and there have been no complaints regarding his clinical practice in the UK or elsewhere.
He has been given an interim suspension order by the GMC, barring him from practising as a doctor in the UK while its proceedings are ongoing.
But the former head of cardiology at the London-based children's hospital and professor of cardiology with the Institute of Child Health at University College London has not been arrested or interviewed by the police.

Last year Alyson Leslie, the chair of the GMC panel hearing the case, said: "The issues and alleged misconduct which have led to Dr Bonhoeffer's referral to this panel include concerns of a most serious nature, particularly in the light of his medical speciality which entails regular access to children."
A Great Ormond Street spokeswoman said: "We have been reassured by the GMC that this hearing is unconnected with his duties at the hospital.
"We have absolutely no reason to believe that anyone in the hospital has been put at risk. However, any families seen by him at GOSH who are concerned can call 020 7762 6200."
Dr Bonhoeffer was due to appear before a fitness to practise panel at the GMC but the case was halted after his lawyers applied for a judicial review which is due to be heard at the High Court on Friday.
