Boy wins £2.2m birth case payout

</span>An eight-year-old boy has won a multimillion-pound settlement from the NHS for asphyxia during his birth, which left him severely brain damaged.

Callum Davies was left with cerebral palsy after his birth at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.

At the High Court in London, Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust agreed to pay a &pound;2.275m lump sum plus annual payments.

The trust apologised and admitted a breach of duty. It said Callum's case had led to "lots of soul-searching".

The court heard Callum suffered asphyxia during his birth due to a 15-minute delay in his delivery.
