    3G spectrum auction begins; top telecom operators in fray

    The much-awaited 3G spectrum auction began on Friday. Top telecom operators, including Bharti, Vodafone, Idea, RCom and Tatas are in fray.This would mark the first online auction for spectrum. 'Online auctioning is very transparent process and there is no scope for cartelisation,' said RSP Sinha, former CMD of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL).'It (online auction) is beneficial for the bidders as top officials of a company can take decisions sitting in their boardroom,' he said.
