Sibi Mathew likely to submit report on Tuesday
Thiruvananthapuram : Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) Sibi Mathew, who was asked to inquire into the allegations over the foreign trip by a senior police official in the State, is likely to submit his report to the authorities today. Following media reports over the foreign tour by controversial Inspector General of Police (Kannur Range) Tomin J Thachankary, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had ordered an inquiry into his foreign trip allegedly without the Government's permission.
However, Thachankary, who returned to Kerala yesterday morning, claimed that he had visted four Gulf countries with his family and senior police officials in the department were orally informed by him about the tour.
He also claimed that he had not availed the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) benefits under the department rules.
Claiming that Inspector General of Police (Trichur) Muhammed Yasin has been informed about the tour, Thachankary said there was no advance plan to visit these countries. As the Visa was received at the last moment, he could not inform the government about the tour programme on time.
However, any department action against the official could be taken only after studying the report, sources said.
