Couple commits suicide after daughter's death






Mumbai: Unable to bear the loss of their 15-year-old daughter, a couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at their house in Bhayandar in neighbouring Thane district. Police said the couple also allegedly fed poison to their eight-year-old daughter Sucheta before taking the extreme step.

Sucheta is in a critical condition at Bhagwati hospital, they said.

According to Navghar police, Suparna, daughter of Dijen Ganguly (38) and Madhuri (33), died on Wednesday after battling blood cancer for four years.

The family had also borrowed up to Rs 15-20 lakh for Suparna's treatment.

Senior Inspector Rajendra Mohite said the incident came to light last night after neighbours saw white foam coming out of Sucheta's mouth. They went inside the room and saw the same state of Dijen and Madhuri.
