UNSC: Russia, China support aspirations of India, Brazil






Brasilia: Reaffirming the need for a comprehensive reform of the United Nations to make it 'more effective and efficient', Russia and China today said they understand and support the aspirations of India and Brazil to play a greater role in the world body. The BRIC countries - Brazil, Russia, India and China - also expressed their strong commitment to multilateral diplomacy with the United Nations playing the central role in dealing with global challenges and threats.

In a joint communique issued after the Summit here, the four countries said they reaffirm the need for a comprehensive reform of the UN, with a view to making it more effective, efficient and representative, so that it can deal with today's global challenges more effectively.
