Govt not for increase fees : Minister






Kochi : Kerala Education Minister M A Baby today said the Government will not hike the fees in the private self-financing engineering colleges as demanded by the managements. Speaking to reporters here, Mr Baby said, ''the Government was for reducing the fees in the self-financing engineering colleges under it and hoped that the private self-financing engineering colleges would reduce the fees symbolically.'' He said the Government would shortly convene a meeting with the managements of the private self-financing colleges to discuss the issue.

The contention of the managements was that it was expensive to adhere to the guidelines of the All India Technical Education Council and the fees had to be increased for the various engineering courses.
