31 injured in yet another attack on Chinese school
Beijing: A knife wielding jobless man today carried out a third school stabbing frenzy in China in less than a month, injuring 28 school children and three adults at a kindergarten in the Eastern province. Five of the children who were reported to be in
critical condition in the hospital after a 47-year-old man burst into a classroom and ran berserk with an eight inch knife, according to Xinhua. Though websites reported four deaths in the attack in the Eastern city of Taixing, but officials said they had no word on fatalities. Most of the children attacked were four year old and also included two teachers and the school's guard. The attack comes just a day after a Chinese doctor was executed for massacring eight primary school students and a knife wielding man arrested for breaking into a school in southern China stabbing 18 students and a teacher.
Initial police investigations have identified the man as Xu Yuyuan, an unemployed local man. He had been a salesman in a local insurance company until he was fired in 2001. Since then, he has remained jobless, and taken part in some pyramid schemes. PTI
